Class Description: The wines of Eastern Europe offer a captivating journey that is intrinsically tied to the geopolitical history of the region. Once considered the third-best wine culture in the world, these wine regions have persisted through phylloxera, the failed Austro-Hungarian Empire, two world wars, and the 40-year Soviet occupation. Now in the 21st century and finally out from behind the Iron Curtain, the winemaking traditions that date back thousands of years are again at the fore, and the wines of Easter Europe are on a march to the greatness they enjoyed centuries ago.
