About 50 West Vineyards

50 West is a farm vineyard located on Route 50 just past the historic town of Aldie in Middleburg, Virginia. Our tasting room and vineyards sit high on a bluff offering stunning views of the Bull Run Mountain range. We are located in a civil war battle area and are just minutes from the historic town of Middleburg and the rolling horse farms of Virginia. We make both red and white wines produced in the classic Bordeaux style of France.

As one of the larger vineyards in the state we grow fruit on five farms in northern Virginia including 50 West. We are proud of our reputation for growing delicious fruit to make exceptional wine. As farmers and vintners our goal is to produce lovely wines while being gentle on the land. We combine old world winemaking techniques in a modern state of the art solar powered wine facility. We take great care from the planting of our vines on our five farms until our wine reaches your glass to enjoy.

Our Name - 50 West Vineyards

We named this winery in honor of the great American road that our property is located next to. We felt it captured the feeling of the farm and the history of the great travelers who have used this road long before it became part of the highway system. Over 3,000 miles long, it stretches from Ocean City, Maryland to West Sacramento, California.

First used by Native Americans as a route to move their migrating herds, Route 50 was later used by the colonists and a portion was even surveyed by George Washington. Route 50 runs close to the US capital from whence one travels 50 West just like the migration for opportunity in the United States during our development as a nation. In Nevada there is a stretch called the Loneliest Road in America.

What a history to tie to a fun catchy name and in some ways, "Ain't that America?" — American-made wine on an American Highway.
