40% Tannat, 37% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvginon
Notes from the Winemaker: The 2016 Aldie Heights Cuvée leans heavily on Tannat, a varietal that has both high acid and high tannin. Cabernet Franc offers a great mid-palate texture to compliment the Tannat. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings freshness as a lighter-bodied foil to the Tannat, which can be quite heavy due to the tannic structure. It is all about balance for our flagship wine! I used a little more new French Oak on this vintage- 11% new, 20% second fill, 6% third fill and 63% neutral for 18 months.
